To celebrate the opening of our new digs in Soho, here’s a rundown of our favourite places to eat, drink and be merry in Soho, London.
EAT
Berwick Street Food Market is always bustling and a firm favourite of ours for a lunchtime treat. Try Savage Salads for hot or cold gourmet salads or Jerusalem Falafel for the best falafel wraps in London!
For a lively and unpretentious evening, filled with exciting flavour, you must try The Palomar on Rupert Street. Sit at the countertop and watch your chefs create gorgeous dishes of modern fare from Jerusalem. This restaurant has been winning awards for Best Restaurant since it opened in 2014.
If the words ‘Thai’ and ‘barbecue’ ring your bell, then you’ll want to give Kiln a go. But be prepared, queues are inevitable for this ever popular restaurant on Brewer Street which uses traditional wood burning ovens and grills.
Paying homage to the old Irani cafes of Bombay, Dishoom never fails to impress on both decor and the food front.
Gelupo has been voted the best ice-cream in London by Conde Nast Traveller and we’d have to agree. How does Panettone stuffed with ricotta sour cherry gelato or pineapple and chilli sorbet sound? There’s a reason why Gelupo is a Soho institution.
If you know soho, you’ll know BAO. Heavenly pillows of Taiwanese goodness. Queues are normal, but if you can bear the wait, the fluffy white steamed buns filled with slow-braised pork, peanut powder and fresh shredded coriander plus others on the menu, will make you forget you ever stood out in the cold.
Le Bab is our new favourite restaurant in Kingly Court and it’s only a 2 minute walk from our store. It’s all about high end kebabs. Time Out calls the kebabs beautiful Scandi style open flatbreads. We think the bajis are ridiculously good!
Duck & Rice is a place to get your glad rags on for. Cantonese food with the heart of a British pub. The reviews are mixed but we think it’s worth a try at least once. Just make sure you’re feeling flush on the night, this is not a cheap date.
Shoutout to Veggie Pret down the road from us on Broadwick Street. This place has been a runaway success and our favourite on the menu is the vegan macaroni cheese and chocolate brownie.
DRINK
Archer Street bar is a fantastic spot for birthday parties. A lively cocktail bar with a twist, the bartenders get up on the tables sporadically through the night to belt out dance anthems.
Polpo has a hidden Campari bar in the basement of its Beak Street restaurant. Head down towards the toilets and you’ll find the bar. It’s a great spot to hangout whilst waiting for a table upstairs or just for a few drinks before dinner elsewhere.
Brasserie Zedel is an old classic. Located right by Piccadilly Circus, Brasserie Zedel is a grand French art deco restaurant with cafe upstairs and stand-alone cabaret bar next to the restaurant. The cocktails are fabulous as is the marble-clad and gilded interior.
Rooftop bars are not exactly in abundance in Soho, however the Courthouse Hotel has a decent Sky Terrace bar at the top of Carnaby Street for when the al fresco moods takes over.
If it's a pub you want, then grab a pint at the glass-fronted, traditional Shaston Arms. It’s pokey, but cosy, full of nooks and crannies and divided by a wall which runs right through the middle of the pub.
